Whom Would You Rather Work With?
What has been your experience with different medical providers? What have been some of your positive experiences? The less-than-positive experiences? What has been the reason one experience was better than another?
When we train local people to work with people with disabilities in their communities, we emphasize the importance of good communication and building relationships. We desire that the local people we train not only be skilled in what they do, but also that they treat others with love, dignity, compassion, and respect. For this reason, we spend some time in our training talking about communication. We talk about different styles of communication and non-verbal communication.
Recently, two of our local workers helped us create some videos to provide examples of good and poor communication, using a variety of situations. We loved how they came up with these ideas and acted them out.
So from the videos below, whom would you rather work with? Why?
