What’s Your Message?

Secular or sacred? Which is it? Is there really even a difference for those in Christ?

Recently, I had breakfast with a friend and fellow missionary. As she discovers her new role during a transition, she continues to take each day as an opportunity to minister to others, whether that be in talking with the young lady from Apple, helping her with her phone, encouraging one of her teachers, or reaching out to a supporter. Each person and event during the day she sees as an opportunity for ministry.

I’ll admit I was a little convicted as sometimes I can still divide up my life into ministry and not ministry, but what she said rang true. As a believer of Christ, I know my whole life is to be a ministry of the work of Jesus Christ in my life and a demonstration of His great love for all people.

So, as we keep walking into this new year, what will your life and actions speak to those around you, not just when you think you’re doing ministry, but all day long? Is my life consistent when I’m in church versus at home or at work versus the grocery store or whatever times that maybe we don’t think it is a ministry opportunity. I’m encouraged this year to love God and love people and look for how He is working in every circumstance and situation. What about you?

So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!” (2 Corinthians 5:20 NLT)
