Road Trip
This week we’re going to leave our clinic in Chichicastenango to travel a couple hours to Canilla. I’d like you to meet Jacinto. He is the rehabilitation promoter working at our therapy program at Maripositas.
Jacinto, unlike our rehabilitation promoters at ASELSI, is the only one working at this location in therapy. They do have teachers who provide an educational and nutrition program for those with disabilities, so he is not completely alone. In addition to providing rehabilitation services, he is the accountant for the ministry. With twenty-six patients in our program there and the accounting responsibilities, he stays quite busy.
Jacinto is an example of what we look for in potential rehabilitation workers. He loves the Lord and is growing in his faith. He loves people and desires for them to achieve their full potential. Jacinto is a great student, seeking out new materials to add to the things he has been taught and looking for more information. I, along with other therapists, go there at least once a month to work with him.
Jacinto, incredibly, finds only the good information on the internet that helps him better serve his patients. He always checks with a supervising therapist before implementing these techniques and confirms he is doing it correctly.
Jacinto, if I had to describe him in two words as I have the other rehabilitation promoters, is a faithful servant with a big heart. Okay, I used more than two words, but I think you get the idea. He is filled with joy and it overflows in all he does. This week we salute Jacinto and his faithfulness in serving those in Canilla and the surrounding areas.
