Can I Enter In?

During devotions at ASELSI recently, we discussed the life of Esther. In the story, Esther needs to approach the king to attempt to protect the Jews from ultimate death and annihilation. Even though she is married to the King, without an invitation to enter the throne room she can be killed if he does not extend his scepter to her. Twice, Esther risks her life to approach the King and he extends his scepter each time.

A few days later I was thinking about how I approach God. Like Esther, do I approach with fear and trepidation wondering if I will be accepted or do I boldly enter in? I do believe Esther boldly entered in, but she did so realizing it could be costly, i.e., her life. I realized that, if I’m not careful, I forget Jesus tore down the veil and made a way for me to enter in without any need for anything on my part. I will not be rejected or risk death. The scepter has already been extended.

What freedom! What grace to be able to enter into God’s daily presence, but it’s not just to enter in. He invites us to Abide with Him in the inner sanctuary of our heart every moment of every day.

I haven’t achieved it yet, but that is my goal. What about you? How are you doing abiding today and receiving the fullness of His mercy and grace?

Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. (Hebrews 4:16 NLT)
