Slow Down and Enjoy the Journey
I was born in a hurry, arriving a month earlier than expected. In many ways, it seems like I’ve been running ever since.
I remember my mom telling me the struggle my grandmother had in watching me. My brother happily played with his cars for hours, while I’d move from toy to toy, always looking for the next thing. Maybe I had FOMO (fear of missing out) before it was a thing.
One day grandma needed to butcher a chicken. Not wanting us to see, she had us play with the dog. Of course after a few minutes I was ready for the next thing and went to find my grandmother. I found her just as the chicken was running around with its head cut off. I might have screamed.
I love starting new things and finding ways to improve on what we’re doing. I love serving and helping others. I love getting a job done. I can get myself involved in a variety of activities. I don’t always say no and keep focused on what I am here to do. There is a cost to overcommitment and constant busyness.
Today’s technology allows us to do things quicker and faster. My iPhone allows me access to internet, email, social media and more 24/7. I love it! Or at least I thought I did.
I’ve realized with that comes a price, a constant noise that combined with my tendency to keep busy leaves me exhausted, empty, and distracted. If I’m not careful I will replace the important for the noise and empty things of this world.
It is for this reason I’ve restarted my blog. This blog will contain stories of the work I’m doing as the founder and director of Therapy Clinics International, but it will also talk about what I’m learning and discovering as I strive to know Him more.
I’d appreciate hearing from you about your experiences in this journey as well. To leave a comment click on the blog title. It will take you to the blog page with the comment section. I look forward to hearing from you.
