Thank You Lety
Things look a little different in the therapy program at ASELSI right now. Last week our rehabilitation promoters finished working with patients for the year. They’ll start up again in January. This week they’re doing end-of-year cleaning and storage. The empty space can be a little sad after a year full of people and activity. However, it also gives us time to reflect on the year and make plans for what awaits us in 2019.
Next year, things will look different, but it won’t be because we’ve put everything back in its place. Things will be different because Lety, a rehabilitation promoter since we started the program in 2005, will no longer be working with us. Before training her to work in the therapy program, Lety worked in the ASELSI lab as a trained lab technician and in the eye program. Over the years she has continued to serve in the lab with the eye teams, in therapy, and with her home church. She is a talented woman who loves the Lord and loves people.
The last two years the eye program has grown significantly with more eye clinics, eye surgeries, and visiting teams. As a result, Lety has been needed more for this area of the ASELSI ministries. It won’t be easy to see such a valuable member of our team go. It’s not easy for her either. She shed tears and prayed for God to heal her heart as said her goodbyes to the team. She knows she is needed in the eye program, but her heart is also with the children she’s been working with, some for nearly thirteen years. At least she isn’t moving away and we will still get to see her, but our team will miss her next year.
Today, we give thanks to Lety and ask God to heal her heart. We wish her the best in the coming year as she follows where God leads in this exciting expansion and growth with the eye team and the ministry to people with vision difficulties. Blessings to you, Lety!
